HOW TO USE

  1. 1

NAV Mode: enter the NAV at which you purchased (buy NAV), the current NAV, your investment amount, and how long you have been invested. The calculator shows units purchased, current portfolio value, absolute return %, and CAGR.

  2. 2

Lump Sum Mode: enter your investment amount, expected annual return %, and number of years. The calculator shows the projected future value using compound growth. Use this for goal planning.

  3. 3

Absolute return tells you the total % gain from your original investment regardless of time period. CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) normalises the return to a per-year figure, making it comparable across different funds and time periods.

  4. 4

Use INR (₹) for Indian mutual funds or USD ($) for international funds. The math is identical — only the currency symbol changes.

WORKED EXAMPLE

Rahul invested ₹1,00,000 in a mutual fund at NAV ₹50. After 5 years, the NAV is ₹120. Units purchased: ₹1,00,000 / ₹50 = 2,000 units. Current value: 2,000 × ₹120 = ₹2,40,000. Absolute return: (2,40,000 − 1,00,000) / 1,00,000 × 100 = 140%. CAGR: (120/50)^(1/5) − 1 = 19.14% per year. In other words, the fund grew at 19.14% compounded annually over 5 years.
