HOW TO USE

  1. 1

Enter the number of shares you own (or plan to buy), the current share price, and the annual dividend per share. The annual dividend per share is typically listed on financial sites as "Dividend (annual)" or you can multiply the quarterly dividend by 4.

  2. 2

Toggle DRIP (Dividend Reinvestment Plan) on or off. With DRIP enabled, each quarterly dividend payment is reinvested to buy additional shares, compounding your holdings. Without DRIP, dividends are paid as cash.

  3. 3

Enter the holding period in years to see total dividends received over time, and how many shares you accumulate through DRIP reinvestment.

  4. 4

Use the "Target Income" section to find out how many shares you need to reach a specific monthly income goal at the current dividend rate.

WORKED EXAMPLE

Sarah owns 500 shares of a stock priced at $100 per share that pays a $4 annual dividend. Annual income: 500 × $4 = $2,000. Monthly income: $2,000 / 12 = $166.67. Dividend yield: $4 / $100 = 4%. Over 10 years without DRIP: $20,000 total dividends. With DRIP (reinvesting quarterly): she accumulates 744 shares and earns $2,976/year by year 10 — a 49% increase in annual income just from reinvestment.
