Select your mode: Percentage off (you know the % discount), Fixed amount off (you know the dollar saving), or Find discount % (you know both the original and sale price).
Enter your two primary values. For stacked discounts, enter the second percentage in the Stack a 2nd Discount field — it applies to the already-discounted price.
Optionally add a flat coupon or voucher amount. This is deducted after all percentage discounts — consistent with standard retail practice.
The result shows the final price, total saving, and effective discount percentage — the true combined saving as a share of the original price.
Review the reference table to see the sale price and saving at every common discount level (5% to 75%) applied to your original price.
Example 1 (% off): $120 with 25% off. Discount = $30. Sale price = $90. Example 2 (fixed off): $120 with $20 off. Discount = 16.67%. Sale price = $100. Example 3 (stacked): $120, 20% off ($96), then 10% off ($86.40). Effective = 28% (not 30%). Example 4 (with coupon): $120, 25% off ($90), then $10 coupon = $80. Effective = 33.33%.
| NAME | FORMULA | DESCRIPTION |
|---|---|---|
| Sale Price (% off) | Sale = Original × (1 − Discount% / 100) | Standard percentage discount |
| Discount Amount | Discount = Original × Discount% / 100 | Dollar amount saved |
| Find Discount % | Discount% = (Original − Sale) / Original × 100 | Find percentage given both prices |
| Find Original Price | Original = Sale / (1 − Discount% / 100) | Work backwards from sale price and % |
| Stacked Discounts | Effective% = 100 − (1−p/100) × (1−q/100) × 100 | Two successive discounts — always less than p+q |
| With Coupon | Final = (Original × (1−p/100)) − Coupon | Percentage discount then flat coupon deducted |
