HOW TO USE

  1. 1

Simple mode: enter your outstanding balance, annual interest rate, and number of days (or use the monthly toggle). Best for: estimating interest on a rolling balance.

  2. 2

Partial payment mode: enter your full statement balance, how much you paid, and the billing cycle length. See the total interest charged including the lost grace period on the paid portion.

  3. 3

Daily mode: add each purchase with its amount and how many days before the due date it was made. The calculator applies daily interest to each transaction from its exact date — giving you the precise interest charge you will see on your next statement.

  4. 4

Cash advance: enter cash withdrawal amount, the cash advance rate (typically 2.5–3.5% per month), and a one-time fee. Cash advances have no grace period — interest starts from Day 1.

WORKED EXAMPLE

Riya has a ₹50,000 statement balance at 36% p.a. She pays ₹20,000 by the due date (leaving ₹30,000 outstanding). Because she did not pay in full, she loses the grace period. Interest charges: (1) Interest on ₹30,000 outstanding for 30 days = ₹887.67. (2) Interest on the ₹20,000 she paid, for 15 days (average transaction age) = ₹295.89. Total interest on her next statement: ₹1,183.56 — not just on the ₹30,000 she owes, but on the full ₹50,000 for part of the cycle. This is the "lost grace period" trap most cardholders are unaware of.
